Reinventing the toilet
Thursday, Jul 21, 2011We take our toilets for granted. Most people think that we owe our modern flushing WC to Thomas Crapper, but it seems that Sir John Harrington first had the idea in the 16th century. Now here we are, in the 21st century, where four out of ten people worldwide don’t have access to a toilet. Our webmaster, Nathan, is rather preoccupied with them as he’s currently involved with a scheme to provide latrines in Ghanaian villages. The Beckhams babies
Sunday, Jul 17, 2011David and Victoria Beckham have been criticised for setting a bad example by having a fourth child, as the world’s population is due to reach 7 billion. It’s unlikely that the Beckhams have considered whether the size of their family is anyone’s business but their own. Affluent parents who choose to have more than one or two children are likely to take exception to any criticism, perhaps feeling that if they can afford it, why shouldn’t they have a large family?Frisbeetarianism
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.Children are naive
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011Children are naive – they trust everyone. School is bad enough, but, if you put a child anywhere in the vicinity of a church, you’re asking for trouble. The majority isnt necessarily right
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011It has never mattered to me that thirty million people might think I’m wrong. The number of people who thought Hitler was right did not make him right… Why do you necessarily have to be wrong just because a few million people think you are?My purpose
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011[My] purpose is is to transform theologians into anthropologists, lovers of God into lovers of man, candidates for the next world into students of this world – I negate the fantastic hypocrisy of theology and religion only in order to affirm the true nature of man.Less of an insult
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011If there is a God, atheism must seem to Him as less of an insult than religion.Airport evangelists
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011The reason why so many sects hang around airports looking for converts: they know that people there are at their most vulnerable and perplexed, and ready to accept any kind of guidance. Not a religion
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011Calling Atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair colour.Useless religion
Saturday, Jul 16, 2011If your religion doesn’t teach you the difference between good and evil, your religion is worse than useless.
